Evaluating Effect of Prophylactic Intravenous Dexamethasone in Post Spinal Shivering: A Single Centre Randomised Controlled Study

چکیده
Introduction: Shivering is a common side effect of central neuraxial anaesthesia. Intravenous pethidine commonly used in reducing shivering but has been associated with significant opioid effects. Dexamethasone as powerful anti-inflammatory and analgesia agent postulated to inhibit inflammatory mediators’ release thus inhibiting thermoregulatory centre, potentially attenuating post spinal shivering. This double-blinded randomised controlled study was determine the ability intravenous dexamethasone decreasing incidence, severity need for treatment shivering.
Methods: We recruited 72 patients requiring anaesthesia them receive either 0.1 mg/kg (up 8 mg) or normal saline (placebo). observed their tympanic membrane temperatures, mean arterial pressures scores at regular intervals up 2 hours post-spinal till end surgery (minimum 30 minutes spinal).
Results: Both groups showed consistent comparable drop temperatures after anaesthesia, except 15 which group demonstrated significantly higher than (p=0.04). There were also less reporting incidence visible compared placebo (p=0.003). No difference seen usage pethidine.
Conclusion: potential mitigate reduction core body temperature, especially spinal. It can reduce clinically grade

Prophylactic Low-Dose Ketamine to Prevent Post Anesthetic Shivering in Orthopedic Surgery: A Randomized-Controlled Study.
OBJECTIVE Post anesthetic shivering is one of the most common anesthesia complications. We compared the efficacy of low-dose ketamine with normal saline in preventing post anesthetic shivering in orthopedic surgery. MATERIAL AND METHOD The present study was a prospective, randomized, double-blind, controlled clinical trial involving 183 ASA I-II patients, aged 18 to 65 years whom underwent or...

Materials and Methods: A randomised, prospective, and double-blind study was conducted in 60 American Society of Anaesthesiologists Grade I and II patients of age between 18 and 65 years, either gender, scheduled for various surgeries under spinal anaesthesia. The patients were randomised in two groups of 30 patients each to receive either dexmedetomidine 0.5 μg/kg or tramadol 0.5 mg/kg as a slo...

A Comparison of Intravenous Dexamethasone, Pethidine and Ketamine in the Prevention of Postoperative Shivering in Patients Undergoing General Anesthesia
Introduction and Purpouse: Postoperative shivering, which is unpleasant and annoying to the patient, occurs in patients with general anesthesia occurring in up to 65% of cases. Different mechanisms have been proposed for postoperative shivering. Chills after anesthesia can cause cardiovascular complications, bleeding and infections. this study, effects of dexamethasone, pethidine and ketamine h...

Introduction: Postoperative shivering is one of the common problems following general anesthesia and may lead to multiple complications. This study aimed to compare the impact of Ketamine and Pethidine on postoperative shivering. Methods: In a randomized clinical trial, one hundred and thirty-five patients undergoing elective abdominal surgery were recruited for the study. The patients were...
